(Lafayette, LA) – Lafayette’s beloved Friday night concert series returns on March 8th in full force as Downtown Alive! presents GIVERS with Michot’s Melody Makers at Parc International. Lafayette’s Original Street party is open to all-ages and starts at 5:00 pm with drinks, local eats, and kids’ activities in Downtown Lafayette.

“The series opener is one of many highly anticipated performances this Spring featuring Grammy award-winning musicians from the Acadiana area,” said Anita Begnaud Downtown Development Authority CEO. “We’re setting the tone for another incredible season of live music on Friday nights in Downtown Lafayette. We invite the entire Acadiana community to make your way to the heart of our city and let Downtown surprise you.”

Music starts at 6:00 pm with psych-Cajun group Michot’s Melody Makers—led by Louis Michot of 2018 Grammy award winning group, Lost Bayou Ramblers. Downtown Alive! is making a statement about the incredible roster of talent this Spring. Topping the bill is Lafayette’s own indie-pop hit group, GIVERS. After touring extensively both nationally and internationally, the group is back in town supporting their latest release, Movin’ On, and Lafayette couldn’t be more thrilled.

Downtown Alive! concertgoers will have many reasons to enjoy their night Downtown aside from the excellent musical offerings. From 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm is the Downtown Alive! Happiest Hour. Early arrivals will receive limited availability “Keep the Music Alive” souvenir cups at the beer booth, a unique reminder of the vital support that drink sales provide the free of charge Downtown Alive! The Happiest Hour also features a specialty drink from a different Downtown bar or restaurant each week. This Friday, Tsunami Sushi is serving their “Absolut Hunk” cocktail made with Absolut Vanilla, pineapple, and lime. Post-concert fun seekers can head to the Tsunami Lounge, location of the Official DTA! After Party for more half priced “Absolut Hunks.”

The foodies at Downtown Alive!, will appreciate the DTA! Manger area for the mouth-watering burgers and sandwiches from Landry Brothers Catering on the Move and C’est Bon Manger to fuel your spirit for the dance floor.

Downtown Alive! is a great outdoor event suitable for kids of any age. As an all-ages event, families are welcome to engage in free educational activities at the DTA! Kids area in the Childrens Museum of Acadiana courtyard. The DTA! Kids area will also feature face painting by MLR Magic and treats from Pop-A-Licious Gourmet Popcorn.

Downtown Alive! is produced by Downtown Lafayette Unlimited and supported by contributions from Lafayette Coca-Cola, LUS, Teche Drugs, Super 1 Foods, Lowry’s Printing, Townsquare Media, Delta Media, Event Rental, and Potty Girl. The concert series hosts performances from an assortment of musical genres including rock, Cajun, zydeco, funk, soul, and more—all on the stages of Downtown Lafayette’s Parc International and Parc Sans Souci.

Concession sales help keep DTA! free, so don’t be a mooch and buy DTA! hootch. Please leave your ice chests at home with your pets. DTA! is a smoke-free and family friendly event. As a reminder, parking is available at Parc-Auto du Centreville Garage with free metered street parking after 5:00 pm.
