LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- The Lafayette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced the election of Miles Matt as its chairman.

Matt is a graduate of the University of Louisiana in the college of Engineering and graduate of L.S.U. Law School. He was previously elected to the Downtown Lafayette Unlimited (DLU) board of directors, where he served as President and on its Executive Finance Committee. He was appointed to the DDA board and currently serves on both the DDA and DLU boards.

Matt is a partner of the law firm of Matt & Allen, LLC and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the Lafayette Bar Association and the Lafayette Parish Bar Foundation, having served as President of the Lafayette Bar Association and Chairman of the Lafayette Parish Bar Foundation.

Matt is also a downtown business and property owner.

“Mr. Matt recognizes that despite the growth and prosperity of communities within Lafayette Parish, its core remains the original downtown area, which is home to a number of well-established churches, four courts, several schools and a number of restaurants and entertainment venues, as well as the workplace for a large number of professionals,” the DDA said in the announcement today. “He intends to continue efforts to improve and develop the District, not only to function as an attraction for leisure and entertainment, but to also foster a great environment for those who live and work downtown during the workweek.”
