39-year-old Ahmad Jackson of Jeanerette was killed and two others from Lafayette seriously hurt in a crash involving four vehicles on LA 24 North at the Buquet Street Bridge in Houma, according to State Police.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has revealed that 35-year-old Denise Jones of D’Iberville, MS was traveling north on LA 24 North in the right lane and began making an illegal left turn towards the Buquet Street Bridge.
As she turned, police say, she struck a Ford-350 being driven in the left lane by 38-year-old Donald Bush of Zwolle, and the impact caused Bush’s vehicle to rotate to the right and overturn.
Jackson was killed instantly and pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
Bush received minor injuries.
Two other passengers in Bush’s vehicle, 42-year-old Thomas Bush and 19-year-old Jason Myers, both of Lafayette, suffered serious injuries, police said.
All three were transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Air Med.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Two unoccupied vehicles were parked near the scene and were struck by debris from the crash, police said.
