The Duson Police Department has a suspect in custody who they say is responsible for counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the area.

News Tens Katie Easter has the details about how this serves as a warning for retailers.

Stephen Young was arrested last week for using 3 counterfeit $100 bills and then, according to police, tried to cover it up.

“We found that he tried to hide evidence by hiding them in our patrol car.”

Police confiscated $1800 of counterfeit bills along with two printers.

“These clerks are just trying to work for maybe a gift or just make money then you have guys like this, and then they have to pay it back at the end of the day.”

Lt. James Hodges says the counterfeit marker isn’t the only way to test a bill.

“The bills have a hologram in the middle, and their is a ghost face, the way the 100 in the bottom right corner changes when you move the bull.”

“How often do you see counterfeit bills? A weekly basis almost.”

Duson Police say if you do suspect a bill is fake, contact police.

“There are certainly more guys out there like this, some probably even better.”
