SCOTT, La. (KLFY) – Scott Police are investigating an early morning attempted break-in of a business that resulted in one of the suspects being shot while the other remains at large.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:47 a.m. in the 100 block of Pecan Grove Tuesday morning after the business owner called 911 and reported that 2 black males were armed and attempted to break into his business.

According to Police Chief Chad Leger, surveillance footage shows the two suspects sneaking up the front of the door and kicking it in.

One of them, Elijah Latigue, 25, of Lafayette is seen pointing a gun at the business owner.

The owner then fired from his own gun, striking Latigue once as he attempted to get away.

The other suspect ran from the scene.

Latigue was transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance, where he is listed in stable, but critical condition.

Scott Police are now searching for the second suspect, who is described as a 20-25 year old black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build.

He was wearing a long sleeved blue shirt, dark jeans, brown work gloves and dark colored shoes.

He was last seen running near the railroad tracks parallel to Cameron Street towards Ambassador Caffery.
