BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) reports a woman was arrested Friday evening while attempting to bring drugs into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Brittany Fitzgerald, 28, was arrested after deputies intercepted a call between her and an inmate in which the two planned for Fitzgerald to deliver drugs to the prison. Fitzgerald reportedly told police the inmate requested drugs be thrown over a fence at the facility.

Deputies were able to locate Fitzgerald in the parking lot of the prison in possession of the following drugs and contraband:

  • 0.8-grams of heroin
  • 0.5-grams of crystal methamphetamine 
  • Two-sealed Suboxone packs, bupreorphine 8-milligram/naloxone 2-milligram sublingual film
  • Two-hypodermic needles, one of which loaded with 15-cubic centimeters of suspected heroin and the other with 15-cubic centimeters of suspected Naloxone
  • One-vial of Naloxone HCI 0.4-milligram/one-milligram doses
  • Zip-up case with small cotton balls, pieces of blue latex glove, and Triple Antibiotic/Pain Relief ointment 

Fitzgerald was charged with the following:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
  • P. W. I. T. D. Crystal Methamphetamine
  • P. W. I. T. D. Suboxone, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Introducing Contraband into a Penal Institution.  

A spokesperson for EBRSO says an investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of Fitzgerald facing additional charges in the future.
