A Washington, La. man is under arrest after he allegedly tried to secure prescription drugs at the Maple Avenue Pharmacy in Eunice with a forged prescription pad.
According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, the pharmacist became suspicious of the prescription and contacted authorities.
Fontenot said when officers arrived, the suspect was not inside the store, however they located an 8 year old boy who told authorities he had been given money to pay for the presciption.
A short while later, police say 29 year old Joshua Brett arrived on the scene, noticed the police presence and fled in a vehicle.
Fontenot said Brett led police on a high speed chase through town that ended on the campus of LSU-E.
Brett was arrested and charged with: resisting an officer, forgery, aggravated flight from an officer, child desertion and contributing to the delinquency of minor.
