Missy Paschke-Wood resigned Monday as executive director of Festival International deLouisiane. Festival International officials are expected to release more information in a news conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
In a press release issued Monday, Paschke-Woodgave no reason for her resignation. She stated, “I’m very proud of the work we’ve done together over the past two years and am grateful to have been a part of Acadiana’s crown jewel. I look forward to joining my many Festival friends in the audience at the 30th anniversary in 2016.”
Paschke-Wood could not be reached for further comment. On her Facebook page, she has photos and comments regarding her new daughter, Eleanor Virginia, who was born July 23.
The release did not state if Paschke-Wood’s expanded family was a factor in her resignation.
Scott Feehan, president of the festival’s board of directors, commented in the release, “We are very grateful to Missy for her hard work and guidance. She was instrumental in finding and implementing our new volunteer system, our donor software and countless other improvements to our day to day functions. While we will miss her, we certainly wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Under Paschke-Wood’s reign, the free festival unveiled a system of paid passes offering perks to the event while raising money for the organization. Access to bathrooms, express beverage lines and a rooftop lounge overlooking Parc Sans Souciwere among the perks.
Before joining the festival in 2013, Paschke-Wood spent two years as the marketing and development director for Yavapai Humane Society in Prescott, Arizona. She was also an English teacher at Nanjing Health School in China from August 2009 to June 2010.
A 2005 graduate of Stephen F. Austin University, Paschke-Wood also has experience in theater and music. She succeeded Dana Baker, who served as festival director from 2000 to 2013.
