Festival International kicks off tonight in downtown Lafayette. 

Lost Bayou Ramblers and Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble kicked off this year’s festival international. 

“It’s really appropriate to start with the local musicians with the Cajun and zydeco groups, because you know that’s what we have to offer the rest of the world and with the rest of the world has to offer us will come. We started with what we have here and then we bring in all the rest,” says Louis Michot with the Lost Bayou Ramblers. 

Louis Michot and his  Grammy-winning Cajun band, the Lost Bayou Ramblers,  is made up of locals from Broussard, Arnaudville, and New Orleans. 

Michot says, “Festival International is so important for our community. It brings the whole world her Lafayette but it really influences the people and the culture and it exposes everyone to something they would’ve never seen. “

Festival International features bands from all over the world, but Wednesday night is 

“It’s a world-class music you know Cajun and zydeco band travel far and wide and it’s definitely no better way than to start Festival International,” says Michot.
