Former Iberia Parish Sheriff Sidney Hebert is facing charges of driving under the influence, according to State Police. 

An arrest report obtained by KLFY News says the former Sheriff was intoxicated when police dealt with him Friday afternoon at the site of a single vehicle crash in  Vermilion Parish.  

Police say around 5 p.m. they responded to the crash near Columbus Road where a single vehicle had run off the roadway. 

After speaking with the driver, Mr. Hebert, police performed a field sobriety tests and determined he had been driving under the influence.

He was arrested  at the scene and charged with DUI and careless operation of a vehicle.
