Former Mayor Dud Lastrapes and Former City-Parish President Joey Durel released a joint letter today expressing their support for the proposed charter amendment on the December 8 ballot. Both officials served three four-year terms.
Mayor Lastrapes served the city of Lafayette prior to consolidation from 1980-1992. City-Parish President Joey Durel took office in 2004 and served until 2016.
The amendment would replace the current Lafayette City-Parish Council with a dedicated City Council for the City of Lafayette and a dedicated Parish Council for the Parish of Lafayette.
