RAYNE, La. (KLFY) – Several arrest warrants have been issued for a former part-time Rayne police officer, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Troy Bryant Menard, 46, is charged with two counts of sexual battery of a minor, one count of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, and one count of aggravated crime against nature.

Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly told News 10 that Menard has been fired. Stelly said Menard worked part-time as a transportation officer, off and on, for a few years.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office said the arrest warrants were issued on Aug. 7. Investigators tried to serve the warrants earlier this week, but learned that Menard was in the intensive care unit at Lafayette General Medical Center. He will be arrested once he’s released.

The alleged incident happened in the city of Rayne. Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon said Chief Stelly contacted his office on Aug. 4 and asked the sheriff’s office to investigate. The incident was originally reported to Chief Stelly.

The arrest warrants were issued after the sheriff’s office investigated. The Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit and the St. Landry Office of Child & Family Services assisted with the investigation.

News 10 did a story in July 2013 about Menard needing a heart transplant. The “Troy Menard Heart Transplant Fund” had been set up at the Bank of Commerce and Trust Company in Rayne.

News 10 contacted the bank this afternoon to find out the status of the account. A bank employee told us that account is still active. Menard has yet to receive a heart transplant.
