LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – “Be kind. Do good work. Try hard. Love. Listen.” is a motto Jillian Johnson lived by, and in the year since her passing, that phrase has inspired many to live by her example.
Lisa Bourque, a local residential and retail designer, met Jillian through mutual friends. Jillian Johnson is remembered by many as a passionate, spirited person.
Gisele Menard, a close friend of Jillian, told news ten by phone “she was an enthusiastic visionary and her energy was contagious”.
Jillian was a designer, musician, and local entrepreneur. On the night of July 23rd, 2015 Jillian’s life was taken during a shooting at the Grand Theater.
“There was so much potential at her fingertips ready to blossom and take off in so many directions,” said Bourque.
Bourque said although she may be gone, Jillian’s spirit is still alive today.
“In my heart, I feel like all of that potential didn’t just go away, it just passed on to those of us who were lucky enough to know her.”
Whether it’s through a community garden to benefit a neighborhood or inspiring someone to pursue a personal goal, Bourque said Jillian’s legacy will live on forever.
