OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) Gamblers at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Opelousas have contacted our newsroom with questions about an alleged computer system malfuction that took place Saturday afternoon.
According to many of the callers, machines were issuing vouchers to players randomly, with some of those vouchers totalling $25,000.
The callers, who wished to remain anonymous, said when they attempted to cash the vouchers they were told the award was a glitch and not redeemable due to a malfunction.
We spoke to an operator at Evangeline Downs who identified himself as Anthony Breaux. Breaux would only confirm that “something atypical happened at the casino this afternoon, we can verifty that, however an investigation is on-going and we have a team working to find out what actually happened.”
Breaux said the casino remains opened.
KLFY will continue to follow this story and have updates as more information becomes available.
