Retired Lieutenant General Russell Honore of Louisiana was shown some serious love recently by his Southwest Airline Crew.
On Saturday, Honore shared a note that he received from the flight crew in Dallas.
It had been handwritten on a napkin.
“General, its an Honor to have you on board today. You are a hero in our eyes. Thank You for your service to our country. Your Southwest Airline Crew.”
In the days following Katrina, Honore was commander of the 22,000 military personnel deployed to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast to assist with disaster recovery.
He was praised for his leadership by then President George H. W. Bush and Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
Honore served until his retirement from the Army on January 11, 2008.
