Alice Boucher Elementary was schooled in the ABC’s, but not your typical ABCs. These are the ABC’s of bullying prevention.

Harlem Globetrotter, Big Easy Lofton is no stranger to the Bayou State. He was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana. Lofton says he was happy to be back in his state, eat a Po’ Boy and reach out to the children by sharing the message of the ABCs of Bullying Prevention.

  • A for Action
  • B for Bravery
  • C for Compassion

Lofton says the globetrotters are on their 90th season and are known as the Ambassadors of the Goodwill. He tells KLFY “that’s what we do, we spread joy love and laughter and we hear there’s a problem with the bullying and we came up with the anti-bullying program and we’ve been doing it for the past couple of years.”

Lofton says kids can use the ABCs by taking action by talking to parents, adults, or teachers if they or someone they know are being bullied. They can also be brave by keeping themselves above the situation and by helping others and show compassion because it’s easier to be a friend than to be a bully/

Lofton shares “In life you want to see everybody getting along and having a good time.”

One of the students tells KLFY she was excited and grateful that he told children about his life and his story and that made them feel special.

Another student says she will try to teach her sister and brothers about the ABCs bullying program so they can pass it on to their friends.

Lofton showed off some of his signature moves and brought smiles to the faces of both faculty and students.

He also told the students if they’re ever in a situation where they are angry – they should think about what their grandma or mom would say – before reacting.
