• There some big changes to tax returns for the 2018 tax year. That’s in result to the Tax Cut and Job act passed in 2017. The tax reform removed personal expemtions, but the standard deduction nearly doubled.
  •  Tax season is underway and there are advantages to filing your taxes early. The most common reason to file taxes early is to receive a faster tax refund. The biggest benefit if you file early, you generally get your tax refund within 21 days of filing.
  • Earlier this week, Gueydan high school shut its doors after 600 bats were found in the building. To keep your home free of rodents during the winter months, professionals recommend replacing rotten wood, filling gaps with foam, or wired mesh to block openings.
  • NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, finally addressed the saints “no-call” controversy, for the first time, publically. The commissioner acknowledged Saints fans, players and coaches, and their frustrations.
  • Locals, including bars and restaurants are boycotting Super Bowl 53 on Sunday, and are instead, playing the Saints’ 2010 Super Bowl win on their TV’s.
