- Two students at Acadiana High school were arrested after a fight on Tuesday. During the fight, one of the boys appears to violently hit his head on a concrete bench. He was checked out and and sent home. A third arrest was made in the investigation. Maegan Adkins, the woman who posted the video to Facebook faces a charge of unlawfully posting a criminal activity for notoriety or publicity.
- Manuel King is arrested in connection with a shooting on Friendship street in Lafayette, along with 3 carjackings throughout the city, then leading authorities on a chase to St. Martin parish where he then crashed his vehicle there and was taken into custody.
- A historic four-day summit is underway at the vatican on the topic of sexual abuse in the church. Pope Francis is calling for “concrete measures” to be the outcome of the meeting.
- It’s been six months since Ride Acadiana, the pilot commuter bus route connecting Acadia Parish to Lafayette began. The Acadiana Planning Commission says the option for continuing Ride Acadiana is open for discussion right now.
- Barricades will be setup into place beginning today in the Hub City. Crews will begin at the corner of Simcoe and Surrey streets and move to Johnston and Vermilion.
- The Acadiana homeschool keyclub group will hold their first day of their annual Mardi Gras Food Drive for FoodNet. Drop off non-perishable food items at Super One on Ambassador Caffery from 1 to 6 p.m.
