LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has taken on the flood recovery fight by forming a task force. The team will be responsible for developing flood recovery and redevelopment plans. One member of that panel is the Mayor-President of the Lafayette Consolidated Government.

“The Governor did a great job of putting together a diverse group of Louisianans that understand the complexity of finding statewide solutions. He outlined in detail what he expects of the task force, I look forward to being a voice for Acadiana,” says Robideaux.

Tara Baudoin of Lafayette says she has read about the governor’s flood recovery task force. “I think it’s great since our area is kind of central to a lot of areas that were affected and I think he will do a great job,” says Baudoin.

Senator Gerald Boudreaux believes the task force is a great way to help the recovery process. “We’ll have a seat at the table, we’ll stay connected to resources that will help get our community back,” adds Boudreaux.

Senator Fred Mills, Jr. believes Robideaux will be able to be unbiased and speak about flooding needs outside of Lafayette Parish.  Mills says the task force is about experience, not location. “He has the legislative experience. He understands what the capital outlay needs are and he has now been truly baptized with this event.”

The State Secretary of Transportation and Development Dr. Shawn Wilson who is originally from Lafayette sits on the recovery task force.  Mills says he’s another great local representative on the force. “I think the governor has put together a good blend of people throughout the state who have been there, done that.  He’s going to utilize their experience,” says Mills.

According to the executive order, the task force is subject to the open meetings law.
