The mother of Juwana Brooks of Lafayette who’s missing at sea says the Governor’s Office has reached out to her.  Marilyn Winfrey says she also heard from the FBI.

Winfrey says Monday the FBI contacted her sharing nothing more really than what she already knows. “They are not finished with their investigation.”

Plus, she says the Assistant to Governor John Bel Edwards contacted her. “They offered their help any way they could,” adds Winfrey.

Through it all, Winfrey says she remains hopeful that one way or another she’ll have true closure. “I still need something else you know; a final word a body you know anything.”

In terms of Juwana’s husband, Winfrey says he was detained, but released. Winfrey says she hasn’t heard from him.  I would like for him to get in touch with me.  You know a text, a phone call, something.”

Winfrey wants to thank the people around her who have shown their support. “I would like to thank all the people that sent prayers and good wishes.  It has really helped a lot,” adds Winfrey.
