A mausoleum at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church has been damaged, including the resting place of a man described as a good Samaritan, and his mother.
Now church officials are asking for the public’s help in finding caused damage to graves including those belonging to Christon Chaisson and his mother.

“It’s cracked here, and all right here. I’m guessing the impact, I’m guessing the impact was so hard, that it just completely demolished the door,” said Miracle Layne, assistant secretary at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church pointing to the damage.
Layne said the church’s associate pastor was first alerted of the damage after Thursday morning’s mass.
“No one ever wants to come and visit their loved ones, and visit their loved ones tomb, or their mausoleum, and see it destroyed,” she said.
The two mausoleum covers on the bottom are destroyed, but fortunately, there were no coffins in them.
However, the two above, belong to Chaisson and his mother are cracked.
Chaisson is known as a good Samaritan after intervening between a woman being beaten by her boyfriend back in August.
He was shot and killed as he was trying to help.
“The wife of Christon Chaisson, she was very distraught. She said that she had been crying because she couldn’t understand why someone would do this to her loved ones tomb, and then vanish,” Layne said. “It’s a hit and run. Why would someone vandalize their loved ones resting place?”
The covers are made of granite and are extremely expensive. The cemetery has been here since the 70s. The mausoleum structure was built in 2005.
Church leaders say the can’t be sure what happened because there are no cameras in the area.
“We haven’t had any problems since it has been erected, and this is the first of its kind,” the assistant director said.
And now the church is asking whoever did this, to come forward.
“They just would like to know who did this. It’s so they can get their closure and justice for their families and this being taken care of properly,” Layne said.
Because these covers are made out of granite, it could cost the church thousands of dollars.
The church told News 10 they have insurance that will take care of the damage once they get a report from authorities.
