A 19-year-old man is behind bars Sunday charged with assault by drive-by shooting in Breaux Bridge.
It happened Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of Courville Street, Chief Rollie Cantu said.
Dequincy Sam walked into a barber shop, and then walked out and started “beefing” with several people standing outside, Cantu said.
He then returned in his vehicle and allegedly opened fire on the crowd standing outside, Cantu said.
No injuries were reported, however a vehicle in the area was struck by multiple bullets.
On Sunday police arrested Sam after he was identified as the shooter, Cantu said.
He was transported to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:
Assault by Drive-By Shooting
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
