BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Pat Magee, the high-ranking member of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office accused of sexual harassment, has resigned, The Advocate reports.

Below is Magee’s full statement, which was sent through The Saunders PR Group:

“Today, I submitted my resignation as Director of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division for
the state of Louisiana directly to Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry.
Due to recent false and unjust allegations against me and after an exhaustive and gut-wrenching
investigation, which concluded my conduct did not rise to the level of sexual harassment, I have
made this personal and very difficult decision.
It has been an honor to serve as the first Black director of the state’s Department of Justice’s
Criminal Division. I also served for nearly ten years as an assistant district attorney, served as a
litigation attorney and supported our state and nation as a member of the National Guard. In my
years working in each of these roles, I sought to protect and serve the great citizens of the state of
Louisiana. Throughout my entire career, my prosecutorial philosophy has been to lead with
compassion when appropriate and be aggressive in dispensing justice to those responsible when
necessary. I am proud of the accomplishments made during my three-year tenure as director in
the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General.

These include:
• Creation of a data-driven approach from case assessment through prosecution
• Expansion of communications with front line attorneys and supervisors for increased
collaboration across agencies
• Reorganization of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for enhanced efficiencies and
operations and culture shift to focus on service to citizens, while reducing fraud

My resignation is effective as of 5 p.m., March 11, 2021.”
