UPDATE: Lafayette Police say they were following up on a complaint of drug activity in a parked vehicle outside a residence on Champagne Street that led to an afternoon standoff.
Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said when police arrived and approached the vehicle, a male inside the car got out, went inside a home and refused to come out.
She said after some negotiating, he agreed to surrender peacefully.
Due to COVID restrictions she said he was served a warrant for possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm.
A second male who exited the home was released, she said.
A female on scene was arrested for possession of marijuana and issued a misdemeanor summons.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- UPDATE: Two people have been detained following a midday standoff that has ended, authorities said.
The Lafayette Police Department is expected to provide additional details this afternoon.
