A Houma man is behind bars charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.

Authorities say the suspect, Christopher Maloz, shot his mother after an argument. Police say during the altercation Christopher Maloz, retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and threatened to kill his parents. As the altercation progressed, the victim and susspect exited the residence and was in the front yard when Christopher Maloz shot his mother multiple times.

Police say he then went back inise the home and and fired the weapon several times inside. While on scene, Houma Police confronted the suspect, ordered him out the residence and immediately took him into custody. Houma Police were able to recover a 9mm semi-automatic Barretta.

The victim is in the hospital in critical condition.
