LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Right after their Thanksgiving Day feast, some Lafayette residents chose to get an early start on their Black Friday shopping at the Best Buy on Johnston Street.

The line was stretching around the building, before the store finally opened at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Some people told News 10, they waited in line since 8:30 a.m., all to try and get the best deals of the day.

When the doors finally opened, the masses came.

“I’m shopping for the 43 inch TV. Been standing out here for about an hour now.” said Marisa Moon, a shopper.

The Best Buy was packed with customers looking for a deal on the best electronics of the season.

“I’m trying to buy a TV. An LG TV,” said AJ Onioe.

“For a 60 inch TV, to watch movies,” said Cathenia Cain.

Some people, even ordered their goods ahead of time.

“I’m going to go hook up what we bought (today),” sad Dana Allen.

And some individuals even skipped the Thanksgiving meal…

“She wouldn’t let us. We couldn’t eat. We couldn’t eat Thanksgiving,” said Baleigh Laverne.

“I’m still kind of eating. I got food that’s left over, stored up. As soon as I leave from here, I’m gonna go eat again, so this just kind of my break. Some people take a nap, I’m going to go get a laptop, then go back eat,”  said David Hutchinson.

But for one family, shopping on Thanksgiving night is all about tradition.

“It’s about spending time with my family, my kids, my grandkids. My families here with me, and we just love shopping,” said Monica St. Julien.

The store manager says it’s hard to tell if this year was busier than last year, because there was so many things different on sale this year.
