LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Black Friday is known for it’s holiday deals so hundreds of people are heading to stores around Acadiana in hopes to get the best bang for their buck this holiday season.

Everyone knows that once thanksgiving is over, it’s time to hit the stores and start shopping for the holidays.

“We started kinda late,” said Louise Courville and Cindy Frederick, “About 7:30. We came in a little late, usually we’re here around 6.”

Some wait in line for hours, others casually look through stores during the day all trying to get those Black Friday deals.

“Bath and Body works and we’ve been in there for about an hour in line so it’s hectic but it’s worth the wait cause it’s good deals in that store,” said Courville and Frederick, “We bought three gift bags at $20 a piece and I got three more free so that’s $60 stuff for $30 so and that’s real nice gifts.”

And while shoppers check off items on their Christmas list, they also use it as a bonding experience for the family.

“My daughter wanted to do it for the first time so we did it, I did it with her for the first time,” said Jeanne Fontenot, “I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I do most of my holiday shopping and sometimes I’ll get her a little extra.”

But before all the madness of Black Friday shopping, stores were already preparing for the rush.

“We’ve been preparing for about a month now,” said Buckle store manager Bethany Wilson, “Just getting you know all staffed up, everybody trained and ready to go so our whole team is here today and we’re just excited.”

So if you are planning to head out know that the deals are good but you’ll probably have to wait in line to get them.
