A man wanted for false imprisonment of his estranged wife in Mermentau has died after suffering what police said was a self-inflicted gunshot.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson, authorities responded to a suspicious circumstance in Mermentau late Wednesday evening.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that Jordy Thibodeaux had shot himself, Gibson said.
Thibodeaux was wanted for a false imprisonment and other charges, stemming from a Monday evening disturbance.
He was transported by Acadia Ambulance to a local hospital where he died.
The Acadia Parish Corners Office has ruled the shooting a suicide.
