IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY)- The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the man who drowned on May 16 as 27-year-old Aaron Rogers.
That evening Iberia Parish Sheriff Detectives say they were called to a home in the 3900 block of Northside Road Wednesday night in reference to a drowning.
According to Major Wendell Raborn, the person reporting the drowning said that they had confronted a suspicious man in his back yard around 8:30 p.m.
Raborn said the suspect, described as a white male, ran from the homeowner and then jumped into Bayou Teche in an apparent attempt to get away.
The homeowner reportedly watched the man swim for about 100 yards before he went under and never resurfaced, Raborn said.
His body was recovered around 10 p.m. by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.
