UPDATE: A 28-year-old man rode in a personal vehicle to Acadia General Hospital, Wedneday morning, after he was shot in the arm, Iota Police said.

Police say it happened during an altercation between the suspect 24-year-old Johnny Soulieu of Iota and the victim 28-year-old Joshua Leger of Eunice.

During the altercation, police say, Soulieu allegedly pulled a .22 cal handgun from his waistband and shot Leger in the arm.

Soulieu then fled the scene in his vehicle, police said.

He surrendered to police and was charged with attempted first degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Soileau was booked into the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail with a bond set at $300k.

IOTA, La. (KLFY)- Police are investigating a shooting that injured one man today.

Iota Police Chief Damon Daigle said the shooting happened just before 9 a.m. 

The motive behind the incident appears to have stemmed over an argument, the chief said.

One suspect is in custody.

The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and released. 

The shooting remains under investigation.
