Apple launched the new Iphone XS and XS Max on Friday.
Lines everywhere were not filled with as many people as expected, including throughout Acadiana.
Many retailers reported shorter to no lines. AT&T sales manager, Gregory said,”no we didn’t have anyone waiting for us to open, which did not shock me, we also opened an hour earlier.”
Business insider reported that fewer Iphone users were lining up overnight to obtain the device. Gregory explains, “I think people don’t need to line up because there are so many different places they can go to buy it. Target, online, Best Buy, multiple phone stores…”
Business Insider also reported that 250 users lined up outside of a store in London, while 12 lined up at a store in New York.
Gregory explained Apple has been pushing for users to pre-order.
Hady Sobh is an Apple user who pre-ordered his device. Sobh explained the process to be easy, and peaceful.
Sobh, “I pre-ordered the max and it came in the mail 3 days early. I mean I don’t want to go to the store where its super busy and you’re there forever. “
The Iphone XS Max cost over a thousand dollars, but as Sobh explains, its worth it. Sobh said, “I think its worth it because its so much bigger, and im excited about having a full touch screen. It’s a pretty price tag but ill get my monies.”
Multiple AT&T stores in Acadiana including the one on Congress, said although nobody lined up, several new Iphones were still sold. One location reported 40 devices being sold within the first day. The most popular device, the XS Max.
