JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY)- Metal Shark is riding the wave as one of the top boat makers in the world.

This Jeanerette-based company started small, and now has grown to 500 employees and counting. 

“We custom-make boats for our clients,“ said Greg Lambrecht, executive vice president of Metal Shark.  

Metal Shark makes boats for military all across the world, and for law enforcement agencies as well. 

They also make boats for the Coast Guard who is one of their biggest buyers. They need a boat produced every week.

“Number 1 provider for U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Coast Guard, small patrol vessels, said Lambrecht. 

Because of Metal Shark’s growth over the past few years, there success is also benefiting other local businesses.

 “We share the growth with other small businesses.“ Lambrecht says

Because Metal Shark builds custom-made boats for different military installations world wide, security has increased at their facility.

 “Some of the projects that we do have are classified. We have had to have the facility cleared to control that information and builds,“ the vice president said.
