A Jeff Davis Parish man wanted for domestic abuse battery and the woman accused of hiding him from police were both arrested Monday, authorities said.

It happened Monday when deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Highway 101 in Lacassine.

On arrival, deputies say they spoke with the victim who stated her boyfriend struck her in the head and neck area,  and kicked her repeatedly while she was on the ground.

The victim told deputies her boyfriend then fled the area expecting police to arrive.

As deputies began searching the area they spoke with 30-year-old Heather Cormier twice, asking if she saw the suspect in the area on foot, which she denied, deputies said.

A short time later Cormier was observed driving at high rate of speed on Abell Road from the suspects residence.

Deputies stopped Cormier and discovered the suspect, 31-year-old Kevin Dale Wilkinson, 31, of Lacassine inside her vehicle.

Wilkinson was arrested and charged with second degree battery, and booked into the parish jail with no bond.

Cormier was found to be driving under suspension, speeding and charged with obstruction of justice for her role in hiding Wilkinson.
