JEFFERSON DAVIS PARISH, La. (KLFY)– A 60-year-old woman has been arrested involved in the fraudulent purchase of a Tahoe from a car dealership, authorities said.

Jefferson Davis Sheriff’s detectives said Carolyn Simien, 60, of Lake Charles, was arrested on a warrant issued by 31st Judicial Judge Gunnell.

She was charged with Principal to felony theft.

According to a news release, Simien participated in a fraudulent story which was told to a local dealership. The story allegedly involved receiving insurance money for a house and vehicle burned in a fire.

Officials said Simien was present when her daughter, Christine Pappion presented a check which was written on a closed account for $42,280.72.

Pappion was arrested and charged on August 5 and booked into the parish jail. Simien was booked into the parish jail today on a warrant.
