JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) – An 18-year-old man accused of taking deputies on a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday was arrested yesterday, according to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey said Deontre Edwards, of Jennings, took a gray Ford Mustang without permission and fled from deputies when the tried to pull him over on US 90 East near Jennings.

Edwards allegedly purchased marijuana in the vehicle just before the vehicle pursuit occurred, authorities say.

Edwards eventually drove the vehicle off the roadway, near the Jennings airport, and ran away on foot.

Deputies discovered drugs and two cell phones on the ground outside the vehicle and were able to identify Edwards by photos on social media.

Detectives questioned Edwards on April 13, 2017, and charged him with possession of marijuana and unauthorized use of a movable.

He was booked into the parish jail.
