LAFAYETTE, La. — Workforce wellness and healthier communities will be among topics discussed by representatives of businesses, civic clubs, churches, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies at the “Summer Health Summit” action session hosted by the Acadiana Healthy Communities Coalition (HCC) on Thursday, June 23, 2016, from 9:30am to 12pm.
The Summit will also include release of the Louisiana Dept. of Health’s new Health Improvement Plan for 2016-2020, a wellness partners EXPO, and launch of the Acadiana Healthy Communities Coalition’s media campaign. The interactive event is free and open to Acadiana citizens.

Louisiana currently ranks #50 nationally in overall health status, with approximately two-thirds of adults and 40% of Louisiana children ranked overweight or obese.
Preventable cancers and tobacco-related illnesses in Louisiana also rank higher than national averages.
