NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY)— Deputies arrest one juvenile after a pursuit of a stolen vehicle ends in a crash.
According to a news release, on June 7, 2016, deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department began a search for a suspect who carjacked a white Silverado on Lombard Street in New Iberia.
According to Sheriff Louis Ackal, deputies found the vehicle driving and attempted to pull it over.
The suspect refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit occurred, ending later when the Silverado crashed on Breaux Ally according to a press release sent to News 10.
Deputies say after the crash, the suspect took off on foot from the scene. Once caught by police, the suspect, a juvenile was taken into custody.
The suspect is being charged with the following:
- Carjacking
- Aggravated flight from an officer
- Simple criminal damage to property
- Aggravated criminal damage to property
- Resisting by flight
- No driver’s license
- Possession of a firearm by juvenile
- Aggravated obstruction of a highway commerce
