LAFAYETTE, La. (The Advertiser)- Carpe Diem! Gelato-Espresso Bar is for sale.

Although real estate signs in the window advertise the business, the downtown dessert spot is still open and serving gelato, coffee and pastries.

The owners of Carpe Diem are interested in selling the business so they can move onto other projects, according to manager Rick Rowan.

“We’re hoping someone who is interested in buying will want to keep Carpe Diem alive, which is why they’re selling the business and not closing,” Rowan said.

“We’ve created a brand over the last seven years that we think people appreciate, and we’re hoping whoever decides to buy the business will continue the tradition of great gelato and coffee in downtown Lafayette.”

Keaty Real Estate agents Joey Durel and Natalie Durel Broussard are handling the listing, which includes just a single photo and two-sentence description.

“Business is for sale, which includes all furniture & equipment,” the listing reads. “There is currently no lease, so business could be moved, or a new lease with building owners could be negotiated.”

The business is priced at $145,000.

The existing management and staff at Carpe Diem could make the transition easy for a potential buyer.

“They wouldn’t have to start completely from scratch,” Rowan said. “I would be willing to help out as a manager and gelato chef, if that was their wishes. And we have a staff who is trained.”
