(Kinder, La.) A Kinder couple died in an early morning house fire, officials said.
Tommy and Melissa Boudoin, both 48, died in the fire, said Brant Thompson chief deputy with the State Fire Marshals Office.
The fire began before 3 a.m. in the 200 block of North fifth Street.
Fire officials received a call just after 3 a.m from a neighbor who heard “popping noises.”
The house sustained heavy fire damage.
Authoities say the fire originated in the living room and when firefighters got there, the house was full-involved
Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire, but it appears to be accidental in nature, Thompson said.
Autopsies will be performed on Monday.
There were no working fire alarms in the house, he said.
Thompson stressed the importance of working fire alarms in the home. His office “rarely” investigates fire-related deaths in homes with working detectors.
Family members have been notified.
The Kinder Fire Department and Allen Parish Fire Protection District 4 responded to the scene.
