(Louisiana State Police, Lacombe, Colonel Kevin W. Reeves, Superintendent) On Friday, February 15, 2019 just prior to 5:45 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 434 south of Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 38-year-old Alonzo Peter Casler of Lacombe. The preliminary on-scene investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Casler was driving a 2010 Dodge Caliber north on LA 434. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled across the southbound lane and through a ditch, before the front of the vehicle impacted a tree. Casler was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced deceased on-scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Please take a moment to speak with your loved ones about the importance of their safe decisions. Remind them to always wear a seatbelt, never drive impaired, and to avoid distractions. The conversation could be the difference in a serious crash.
