You’ve probably seen and heard his commercials.

Lafayette personal injury attorney and founder of the Glenn Armentor Law Corporation says, “A fair settlement is no accident. It’s true, it’s not an accident. To get a fair settlement, you have to work. Fairness is very important to me”

That’s because Armentor says as a young boy, life was not very fair. He grew up in poverty as one of 10 children. Before he was 18 years old, he had been arrested many times.

Armentor says, “I was probably the worst kid in Lafayette Parish in the 60’s, a juvenile delinquent of the 1st order.”

Armentor says he was at risk. But thanks to the intervention of family, friends and even total strangers, he found a better path.

Armentor says he promised himself if he ever had a chance to make a difference in the lives of other at-risk kids, he would do everything he could.

When he was 50 years old, Armentor set out to do just that and the Pay It Forward Scholarship Program was born, offering a full ride to students who need it most.

2017 Scholarship recipient Isabelle Boudreaux says, “There were things I went thru that other children probably haven’t like a lot of drug use on my mom’s side.”

Joseph McGann, another 2017 recipient says,”My mom, when I was about eight years old, passed away due to breast cancer. We found out my older sister and little brother were being molested physically and sexually by my dad.

Also a 2017 scholarship recipient, Quincy Damon says he, “had to watch my mom be mother and father.”

Armentor is glad to be there for them and so many others. He says, “It’s become a tremendous program with 33 kids have won and now our law firm has $410 thousand dollars in pure donations.”

Donations that have all gone to at-risk youth in Acadiana.

Destini Catchings is all smiles when she talks about the phone call she received from Armentor to tell her she won the scholarship.

“This is Mr. Glenn Armentor with Pay It Forward. I was like ‘Ahhhh!’ I got my scholarship and I was just grateful to God and Mr. Glenn.”

Isabelle Boudreaux says, “He’s helping me in a way my family couldn’t, he’s an incredible person.

Joseph McGann says of Armentor, “He’s a great man. Not many could do what he’s doing and he’s not only making himself successful, but he’s making us successful.

And Quincy Damon asks Armentor continue on his mission saying, “If I could tell Mr. Glenn anything, I would say just keep doing what you’re doing for the community.”

These students face so much more adversity than the average student and Armentor is really making a big impact in their lives and our community.

For the past decade, he’s worked with financial and academic advisors at UL-Lafayette who help identify the students in need.

Once the committee made up of professionals, business and education leaders, selects the students and they receive their scholarships, the work does not end there.

Armentor and university volunteers including counselors make sure the students succeed in college and even post-graduation.
