Lafayette chef named seafood royalty at cooking competition

A dozen chefs from across the state competed Tuesday evening in hopes of being crowned king or queen of Louisiana seafood.

Chef Ryan Trahan of Blue Dog Cafe in Lafayette took home the title. As Louisiana Seafood King, he will represent Louisiana at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off Aug. 4 in New Orleans. 


The 11th annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off took place at the Cajundome Convention Center in conjunction with the kick-off event for the 14th annual Eat Lafayette dining campaign. 

Other chefs who competed during the live cooking event include:

Chef Bonnie Breaux, the 2017 winner, was the first woman to win Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off.
