Lafayette City Marshall Brian Pope turns himself into sheriff’s office on contempt of court charge

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette City Marshall Brian Pope has surrendered himself to the care, custody and control of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s spokesman John Mowell says Pope turned himself in at 3:43 a.m. this morning without incident.


Pope was sentenced to serve seven days in the Lafayette Parish Jail on a contempt of court charge and is expected to be released immediately following the installation of a monitoring device that will allow the Sheriff’s Office to monitor his compliance with the court order.
