LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A local oilfield logistics company, Blue Sky Innovations, LLC, has announced it will layoff 58 employees.
The company, which is headquartered in Lafayette, notified the Louisiana Workforce Commission of the mass layoff with a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice on June 30, 2016.
Blue Sky Innovations cited losing the bid to their only full-time client as the reason for the layoffs.
All 55 hourly employees will be permanently laid off no later than July 31, 2016, and all three salaried positions will be permanently laid off no later than December 31, 2016.
The company said it does intend to offer severance benefits or transition programs to affected employees in the WARN notice.
Some of the laid-off employees could be hired by the competitor that won the bid, the company said.
