LAFAYETTE, La. (KFLY)– Firefighters respond to a house fire and extinguish the flames, authorities said.
According to a news release, at 2:53 this afternoon, firefighters from Lafayette responded to a house fire in the 600 block of Paris Street.
Authorities said the occupants of the dwelling notified officials of heavy smoke coming from a back bedroom.
When firefighters arrived, they say the flames were coming out of the bedroom windows and the occupants were in a safe area outside.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within fifteen minutes however the dwelling sustained heavy smoke and fire damage, according to a news release.
The occupants said they were experiencing electrical issues earlier this morning.
There was an electrical company at the residence doing service work when the fire started.
Fire officials determined that the fire originated in the bedroom.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
