Today medical professionals in the area got the opportunity to see what they would do if a gunman enters their workplace.

The Lafayette General emergency room and security staff continued their active shooter training today with simulations and courses.

In some cases, the coordinators used nerf guns to replicate a real gun.

Trainees were in an enclosed room when the gunman entered and was taught the best way to react.

Coordinators say they’ve been conducting this training for over a year now with new people and new departments every day.
