Lafayette’s Cajun and authentic culture is being featured in an international tourism video series.

The Louisiana Office of Tourism has partnered with Brand USA for this unique production.

Louisiana 2017 tourism facts state that there are 47.1 million visitors a year. A huge percent of that shows destinations to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. This video series is hoping to highlight more of the state’s hidden gems.

In an effort to grow international tourism, Brand USA crews traveled to Alexandria, Lake Charles, the Northshore, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette. Within a seven-day time span, they featured the state’s most iconic destinations. In Lafayette, the food and musical heritage were showcased. The cast of the film was taken downtown to hear zydeco and learn the two-step. Jesse Guidry from Lafayette travel, says international tourism has grown tremendously over the past four years.

“A lot of these international visitors come in. especially, with these direct flights coming into New Orleans from overseas. It really benefits us because we’re able to pull from that market and get them here. I think we just kind of have our bread and butter,” said Guidry.

“Just discovering Louisiana’s Cajun country and that’s us. If you want a true Cajun authentic experience. They come to Lafayette. They fall in love. They stay here,” he added.

The filming in the Hub City wraps up today. Brand USA will distribute the video series on its marketing channels and VisittheUSA.com. It can also be found on social media channels including; Facebook, Twitter, Google, Youtube and Instagram.
