SCOTT, La. (KLFY)— Two stolen firearms recovered from traffic stop results in one Lafayette man arrested.
Authorities with the Scott PD tell KLFY that officers were monitoring traffic in the 500 block of Debonnaire Road when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Randall Landry, 26, of Lafayette.
The officer says when speaking with Landry a strong odor of marijuana was noticed.
Authorities say as the officer continued to investigate, Landry opened his vehicle’s door which revealed to the officer two guns on the driver’s side floorboard.
Officials with the Scott Police Department tell News 10 that the guns which were in the vehicle were determined to have been stolen.
Authorities tell News 10 that no other illegal items were located within the vehicle.
Randall Landry was arrested and transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Landry is being booked for two counts of illegal possession of stolen firearm.
