On August 30, 2015 at approximately 10:50 a.m. Lafayette police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle in the 200 block of Paul Breaux Street.

Police say the suspect initially refused to stop for police. During the pursuit, the suspect struck three vehicles and attempted to strike a police officer.

The suspect did stop at the dead end of Poplar Street where he was taken into custody.

The suspect, Christopher Paulson, 37, of Lafayette, LA. was arrested for attempted first degree murder of a police officer, aggravated flight from an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated criminal damage to property, simple battery, unauthorized use of a moveable, simple criminal damage to property.

The suspect was booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
