(The Daily Advertiser) – All Lafayette Parish public schools are open today and will dismiss at regular times.
Parents of students at at least four schools received automated phone calls Friday morning, saying that school was closed and the students needed to be picked up, Chief Administrative Officer Joe Craig said.
That call is not coming from the school system and the information is incorrect, Craig said.
“We are really trying to investigate it,” Craig said. “We’re trying to backtrack and see where they are getting the numbers from. When we’ve talked to principals, the calls are coming from a number that is not even a complete phone number.”
Some of the affected schools include Paul Breaux Middle, J. Wallace James Elementary and Green T. Lindon Elementary.
“There’s nothing going on the district, and we’re not sure who is sending the call,” Craig said. “It is not coming from the district or the schools.”
